Visit Huangshan Official Residence of Jiang Jieshi. In 1938, Japan carried out strategic bombing in Chongqing. In order to be away from bombing and the summer heat, Jiang selected Huangshan to build the official residence for him and his wife, Song Meiling. Jiang lived in the house named “Yunxiu” (Cloudy Peaks) and Song lived in Hall of Pines. Yunxiu is a three-storey house combining Chinese and Western style. The Hall of Pines is a row of Chinese one-storeyed houses. It is surrounded by pines. There is a air-raid shelter between Yunxiu and Hall of Pines. It is built for Jiang to avoid the Japanese bombing. Not far away from Yunxiu, there is a Chinese one-storeyed house named Cao Pavilion with its roof covered with straw. In 1945, the emissary of US President Truman, General Marshall used to live here. Then, visit Nanshan Park. It is called Lungs of Chongqing and Flower Hat of Chongqing. With its natural beauty, abundant scientific knowledge and long historical culture, it has become a popular place for visitors to watch flowers and night scenes of Chongqing. |
