Yangtze River Introduction

In Yangtze River history, Yangtze River originates from the world's roof – southwest part of Mt. Geladandong of Mt. Tanggula of Tibet Plateau. The main stream of Yangtze River flows through Qinghai Province, Tibet, Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, Chongqing Province, Hubei Province, Hunan Province, Jiangxi Province, Anhui Province, Jiangsu Province and Shanghai Municipality. Yangtze River flows into the East China Sea from Chongming Island of Shanghai Municipality. It is more than 6300 meters long, which ranks the 3rd large river of the world. There are many Yangtze Cruise cruises along Yangtze River such as Yangtze Victoria Cruise and New Century Yangtze River and so on. The other two largest rivers are Nile and the Amazon River.

The main stream of Yangtze River flows through the middle part of China besides many branches. It covers about 180000 square kilometers accounting for 1/5 of China.

The part above Yichang City is called the upper reaches of Yangtze River. The upper reaches of Yangtze River is 4504 kilometers long with a coverage area of 1000000 square kilometers.

The part between Yichang City and Hukou is called the middle reaches of Yangtze River. It is 955 kilometers long and covers 680000 square kilometers.

The part below the Hukou is called the lower reaches of Yangtze River. It is 938 kilometers long and covers 120000 square kilometers.

Temperature of Yangtze River Weather

The average temperature of Yangtze River in a year features the formation of the sun radiation energy, Tibet Plateau, East Asia's general circulation and other factors.

The east part of Yangtze River Basin's temperature is much higher than west part in a year. The south part is much higher than north part in a year. The temperature of middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River is much higher than upper reaches of Yangtze River. Due to the difference of geography, Yangtze River weather is different in some areas such as Sichuan basin.

The average temperature of middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River is 16-18℃. The average temperature of Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province will be over 18℃, which is the highest temperature of Yangtze River Basin.
