Since mentioned in 1993, it has been completed in 2009 dividing into three stages within 17 years. Three Gorges Dam is called gravity dam made of concrete. The top of Three Gorges Dam stretches 3035 meters long and 185 meters high. The normal water level is 175 meters and the total storage capacity of reservoir is 39.3 billion cubic meters, which the flood control storage is 22.15 billion cubic meters. Three Gorges Dam could able to effectively control flood.

There are two power stations with 26 of generators, which could generate electricity of 84.9 billion degrees. The navigation capability will increase to 50 million ton from 1000 ton. At that time, the ten-thousand-tonnage ships such as Yangtze Cruise could navigate to Chongqing Municipality directly while the transport cost decreases 35-37%.

Three Gorges Dam History Ⅱ – Huge Reservoir

After the completion of Three Gorges Dam, it has been formed a huge reservoir as long as 600 kilometers. It is a new infrequent landscape of the world.

According to Three Gorges Dam history, during the time of 1st State of Three Gorges Project, the water level reached to 88 meters from 66 meters. After that, the water level reached to 135 meters submerging Zhangfei Temple in 2003 during the time of 2nd Stage of Three Gorges Project. Then, the water level reached to 156 meters in 2006 submerging the Qu Yuan Temple. At last, after the completion of Three Gorges Project, the water level of Yangtze River reached 175 meters submerging some of attractions such as carved stone, Shibao Village and so on. The gate of Shibao Village was submerged 1.5 meters in height, thus it has become an isolated peak surrounded by water all sides, which formed a magnificent and wonderful attraction.
