Mt. Shengdengshan National Forest Park located in Banan District, which is 50 kilometers away from the downtown of Chongqing Municipality. Mt. Shengdengshan is a small but characteristic mountain which is also called "Little Mt. Emei". (Mt. Emei is a famous and magnificent mountain in China)

Mt. Shengdengshan National Forest Park – Attraction

There are lots of steep cliffs and sharp rocks, grotesque stones and quite streams, dense forests and countless mountains in Mt. Shengdengshan. Its altitude is 1064 meters. In addition, there are full of interesting attractions with fascinating stories and legends such as "Sheming Escarpment (Sheshen means devote life in English)", "Qipan Rock", "Monkey Rock", "Drilling the hole by Dog" and so on. You will be surprised of the miracle of nature.

In Mt. Shengdengshan National Park, there are also full of wild fauna and flora such as pine tree, cedar tree and other kinds of trees, besides other wild animals such as turtledove, bamboo partridge, pheasant, woodpecker, fox, goat, wild boar, hare and so on. Some of which are protected by the state.

Tanzikou Reservoir is on the bottom of the Mt. Shengdengshan in length of 116 meters. It stands 33 meters in high which looks magnificent. There is a broad lake surrounded by mountains and trees, and the clouds float above it. Many kinds of birds are flying and perching at the bank of the lake.

There is always shrouded by the clouds at the mountainside especially in cloudy day. At that time, it seems the sky and the world are combined together. Tourists walk in Mt. Shengdengshan feeling like wandering in the heaven.

Mt. Shengdengshan National Forest Park – History

It is said that the emperor of Ming Dynasty has been lived here in 1511, thus the name of "Mt. Shengdengshan" has been confirmed. Because the word of "Sheng" also means the emperor in Chinese, while the word of "Deng" means "climb". There are full of natural landscape and cultural landscape. The Buddhism temples have been established here. There is one temple with long history of thousands years has been destroyed much during the time of China Great Cultural Revolution. This temple witnesses the past history standing there. There are also some believers coming here for worship.
