Chongqing Folk Culture Village – Brief Introduction

Chongqing Folk Culture Village situated in Lianglu town of Yubei District with a total coverage area of 5 hectares. There are main attractions of one hall, four courtyards, one temple and one memorial arch.

There are many Chinese folk arts and crafts, clothes and other more than 1000 articles for daily use displaying in the village, which mainly features plaque hanging, wooden bed of carve patterns, desks, chairs, counter top and other more than 250 woodcarving works.

Chongqing Folk Culture Village - Four Courtyards

Four Courtyards are mainly characteristic of the folk customs of ancient Chinese people such as the series of life etiquette and the production process of farming tools.

The First Courtyard

The first courtyard is mainly shows the birth etiquette and the wedding.

The birth etiquette consists of the process of the coming of the new life such as lot of children. Let the babies choose the thing they love from the stuffs which are put in front of them so that the parents can know what the talent of their child is.

The wedding is mainly shows the process of Yingqin etiquette, which means go to the bride's home to escort her back to the wedding.

The Second Courtyard

The second courtyard consists of the process of birthday etiquette and festival etiquette. The birthday etiquette should be celebrated on the time of "integer (such as tens, twenties)" "Pingshou (each day of the birthdays)" and "great birthday party (at the age of 60 years old)".

The festival etiquette mainly shows the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-autumn Festival.

The Third Courtyard

The third courtyard mainly shows the obsequies. It has been formed a series of the etiquettes, for example, people should hold the obsequies of 81 days for the emperor. Ordinary people choose 57 days, 21 days and so on to hold the obsequies which depend on the financial capabilities. It is the impossible to see in other country of the world.

The Fourth Courtyard

The 4th courtyard mainly shows the production process of farming tools and the store of manual products.

Chongqing Folk Culture Village – Attraction

Each of the courtyards is respectively divided two parts. The back part of the courtyard is one time as the front one.

There is a three-dimensional sculpture showing the process of killing pigs in Spring Festival in back courtyard. Two people exert all their strength on the pig, the butcher takes a thick knife on the mouth while move the wooden pot by one hand. Two children are playing around.

There are full of the process of such parts during the life in the courtyard, which visually shows the real life of ancient Chinese people.
