Attraction of Zhongshan Ancient Town – Overview

Zhongshan Ancient Town situated at the bank of Shunxi River of Jiangjin District of Chongqing Municipality. It's 56 kilometers north away from the downtown of Chongqing Municipality and 90 kilometers south away from Guizhou Province. It is also 50 kilometers east away from Qijiang Town of Chongqing Municipality and west away from Luzhou City of Sichuan Province. Zhongshan Ancient Town originates from the Dalou mountain range containing "State Dayuan Hole Forest Park", which closes to State Scenic Spot and Fubao Ancient Town of Sichuan Province. Zhongshan Ancient Town covers a total area of 156 square kilometers which contains 20528 mu (almost equals 13.68 square kilometers) of agricultural acreage. It has a long time of sunlight shining and frostless period of 260 - 300 days.

By the way, Zhongshan Ancient Town is the only place saved original evergreen trees broad-leaved forest and Coniferous mixed area.

Ying'en Gate

In ancient Chinese history, Zhongshan Ancient Town was a pivotal place like a unique state in a war. Thus people built three little cities in the town to resist the enemy troops. After years of war, there is only a damaged gate named "Ying'en Gate" saved. Tourists are able to find some traces of the gate that destroyed in the war.

Old Street

There is an old street of 700 meters from Ying'en Gate and more than 100 stores in Zhongshan Ancient Town. Even suffered thousands of years' changing, Zhongshan Ancient Town still retains prosperous style and feature. Ancient streets and pavilions, old buildings, timeworn pictures are able to see everywhere in the town.

Yong'an Bridge

Yong'an Bridge was build by an old lady's grandsons, the lady named Mrs. Wang. It completed in Qing Dynasty reign of Daoguang (during the year of 1810). The Chinese characters of Yong'an were titled in a stele which inlayed in the bridge.

Man Tower

Man Tower located at Husband village, which constructed in Ming Dynasty (in 1551). The tower was 14.7 meters in high and divided into 7 floors. There is a legend saying that many writers and poets came to the tower for travel and create articles. Thus the name of Man Tower spreads quickly. (In ancient Chinese history, only men are able to go to school)

Five Thousand Meters Long Gorge

The gorge owns five thousand meters long, located 15 kilometers south away from Zhongshan Ancient Town. It is a north-south directional gorge which shaped by the diastrophism of Himalaya Mountain.

Stone Well Scenic Spot

Stone Well Scenic Spot located in the magnificent and picturesque field in Zhongshan Ancient Town, which contains abundant natural landscape and prosperous cultural landscape.

Shujing's Tomb

Zhude's House

There is a Zhude's house named Shifu villa, which constructed in early 19 century. It is probably the earliest villa architecture in Hakka region.

Xie Zhaoqi was a General during the period of Nationalist Party. He has led the forces to resist Japanese army.
