The North Hot Spring Park of Chongqing Municipality is located in the Beibei District, facing the Jialing River in the north and leaning against Jiuyun Mountain, which is about 52 kilometers (32 miles) away from the downtown of Chongqing Municipality. It is an important part of the Jialing Mountain Scenic Area, and rightly considered to be a pearl of the Jialing River. North Hot Spring is established in Nan Dynasty reign of Songjing Liu first as a temple (in year of 432) and reconstructed in 1432. Although it is not very large, just 10 hectares, it is praised as Chongqing foremost garden park. In 1927, swimming pools and bathrooms as well as other facilities were added and we begin to call it North Hot Spring Park officially to the public, though its initial name was Hot Spring Temple.

During Ming – Qing Dynasties - the splendid period for North Hot Spring, buildings were reconstructed and other facilities were added . The existing North Hot Spring Temple is an ancient temple renewed in Ming – Qing Dynasties, which is said to be the earliest hot spring discovered in China and is still in perfect condition. In 1927, swimming pools and bathrooms as well as other facilities were added and we changed the name into North Hot Spring Park officially to the public.
