Gold Knife Canyon – Introduction

Gold Knife Canyon, one of the first "3A Level National Tourist Area", situated on south of Huayun Mountain of Chongqing Municipality with 880 meters high, 90 kilometers away from downtown of Chongqing municipality. Gold Knife Canyon is newly opened to the outside world; it is a natural scenic spot with over a hundred million years of ravine landscape in addition to auxiliary Karst terrain, including a large number of magnificent landscapes of deep pond of geology, which retains original and magical scenic spots.

Gold Knife Canyon – Terrain Feature

Known as risk of gorges, Gold Knife Canyon is also famous as beautiful and dense forests, peculiar rocks, quite rivers, with a magnificent terrain. With length of 9 meters, Gold Knife Canyon consists of two parts. The first part is more than one hundred meters of vertical height, formed as Karst geology with old rattans above and unceasing water down. Caves and waterfalls, varies of stalactites, stalagmites and stone pillars appears everywhere as the affection of water erosion, which called the longest valley and "the dream of Shangri - la" "first dangerous canyon of China" by tourists.

Gold Knife Canyon – Scenic Spot

Breathtaking Terrace

Step into the mountain of five minutes' walk, there is a terrace with 5 meters long and 3 meters wide. When you look down standing on the terrace, you will be shocking by the sight. Don't stand over there if you have a fear of high.

Condor Shower

At the entrance of Gold Knife Canyon, There is a steep cliff rock on the right side which in a shape of condor. Liquid spring streaming down from the mouth of condor that makes moist and cool of the canyon, which is the No. 1 scenic spot of Gold Knife Canyon.

Suspended Waterfall

Suspended Waterfall, with150 meters high and 10 meters wide, situated on the wall of right side of the up-canyon in Gold Knife Canyon. It is grand and majestic as if silver spring flying from the heaven. In summer, the waterfall splashing everywhere which makes the place a heaven garden; after heavy rain, the length of waterfall will up to more than 30 meters with super boom, it is a picturesque place to visit. It is also called Double Waterfall as its different appearance in seasons.

Lion Canyon

With its oldest face like weather-beaten, "the smooth hair of lion's" on the canyon challenges our imagination. This canyon is totally created by our magical nature. It contrasts with the man-made Sphinx Statue of ancient Egypt. Maitreya Buddha

The Buddha smiles to people without coat, located on the right side of middle of second part. When shined by sunlight, there is a colorful rainbow across the Buddha which called the light of Buddha. If you are luck enough to see, you must have a good luck later.

Knife Hidden Hole

Gold Knife Canyon named the knife hidden hole. There is a lengend says that the hole was a place for hiding gold knives by Genaral Zhangkun in Xia Dynasty. A scabbard left in the hole which looks like a shiny gold knife.
