Shennong Stream Facts – Unique Scenery

Along with the magnificence, grace and danger of the Yangtze River, the Shennong Stream consists of three natural gorges –Mianzhu Gorge, Yingwu Gorge and Longchang Gorge.

Mianzhu Gorge

Among the three gorges, Mianzhu Gorge is famous for its danger. Karst caves spread all over the precipitous rocky cliffs which are very dangerous to climb. Huge stalactites are hanging upside down. Yingwu Gorge

There are many rare animals inhabited in the primeval forest at the source of Shennong Stream, including flying squirrels, golden monkeys, serows, white goats and white pheasants. Valuable plants can also be found in Shennong Stream, such as Wintersweet, Chinese Narsissus, Cotton Rose and so on.

Shennong Stream climate mainly belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate. There will be varies of climate of warm temperature zone, mid-warm temperature zone and cold snap zone with gradually increased elevations. The minimum temperature reaches -21℃ and maximum temperature reaches 38.5℃ in Shennong Stream.

Shennong Stream Facts – Minority Nationality

The boats will come ashore at a village where the Tujia minority nationality lives. Sitting on the boats, tourists can listen to the local pretty guide's introduction of Shenong Stream. The sampan team consists of captain who steer the boat, and other boat trackers. All of them are from Tujia minority nationality. Their job is to help the boat over the shallow spots along the river. In more specific terms, when the sampan gets stuck, they will get out of the sampan to drag it over the shallow area by pulling on ropes. They are hardworking and hospitable people on this job, which has been special scenery in Shernnong Stream. If you are lucky, you can join in a wedding ceremony.

There is a rumor about savage says that she often attacks on people. She is more than 3 meters tall with messy red hair and without any clothes. She likes to fight with people by endless laughing. People go into the forest with battle tools to prevent from red savage's attack; otherwise they will die if caught by her.
