The number of Tibetans takes 89.7 percent of its total population. Lhasa is praised as "city of sunshine" has sunny days and clean air all year round. It is a mysterious place and even its horizon is several thousand meters above sea level.

Lhasa – Historical and Cultural Sites

According to historical records, when Songzain Gambo sent an envoy to ask for the hand of a princess in Tang Dynasty, he promised to build a city for the princess if she married him. This city is the worldly famous Potala Palace on the Red Hill of Lhasa. Since the completion of its construction, the place has been a landmark of Lhasa. There are also some famous monasteries in Lhasa, such as Jokhang Monastery, Klukang Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and so on. They are carriers of spiritual heritage and deposits of the long history.

Lhasa is one of the excellent tourism cities in China. It is one of the first group of approved cities famous for their long story and culture. It is worldly famous for its long history, geographic conditions, special and local customs. It attracts numerous tourists with its snow-capped Nyenchen Tanggula, the vast pasturelands, the rare cultural relics, the famous geothermal heat in Yangbajain, hot springs in Dezhong, the mysterious Nam Co and the ancient cypress trees in Razheng Monastery.
