Brief Introduction

Dzi Bead is also named as Tianyan Bead, Tianyan Stone and Dzi Bead Stone. It is mainly produced along the Himalayas, like Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim. Dzi Bead is a kind of precious stone, with the ingredients of stone shale, jade, agate and crystal. Dzi Bead is one of the Tibetan Buddhism Seven Treasures, been recorded as Nine-eye Dzi Bead in the history. Nowadays, Tibetan people still believe in that Dzi Bead is dropped from the heaven, been formed as a result of the meteorolite clashed the earth, and with the high temperature high pressure, after thousands of yeas, Dzi Bead was deposited.

The Composition

Dzi Bead is a kind of stone shale, made up of grains with 1/256 millimeter. The color of Dzi Beads includes black, white, red, brown and green. The color of the stone shale is different because of the different chemical substances it contains. If it contains ferric oxide, then it is red, and if it contains ferric hydroxide, then it is light yellow, if containing gray matter, then it is black.

Many opinions suggest that Dzi Beazd has magnetic field. They believe in that the inner structure of Dzi Bead has the energy of natural and strong magnetic field, among which, the ytterbium is a representative. And in the world, only in Dzi Bead can people find the ytterbium with strong magnetic field. So it is used to drive off the evils, prevent apoplexy, add inner liberty, ensure being safe and sound, as well as add wealth, and proved to be with strong efficiency.

Other opinions are that the Dzi Bead has no magnetic field. According to the legend, the magnetic field of Dzi Bead is three times that of the crystal, and the harder the mineral is, the stronger magnetic field it has. They believe taht this is just the surmise of people, because the existence of magnetic field is based on the materials with magnetism, especially for the iron. While the same with crystal, Dzi Bead does not contain the iron, and the intensity of magnetic field has no relationship with the hardness of the mineral. Dzi Bead is semiprecious stone, with a hardness of 7 to 8.5. There is no scientific research of the magnetic of crystal and Dzi Bead, besides, from the chemical composition of Dzi Bead, we may know whether it contains magnetic field. There is no related experimental data or authoritative report of the magnetic field of Dzi Bead.
