Brief Introduction Tonggu Beach

Tonggu Beach is located at the Zaodu River, 40 kilometers away from Wansheng County. At Zaodu River, the water is torrential and there are many beaches, high waves and deep and serene water gaps, being the first drift of Sichuan and Guizhui. It starts from the Changtangkou in the east to Tonggu Beach in the west, with driftage of 11.2 kilometers. When you take a raft floating there, you will float through 29 beaches. So Tonggu Beach is also known as the Tonggu Beach Drifting Scenic Spot.

The Features of Tonggu Beach

The Tonggu Beach is in the shape of V, with the width of 10 to 60 meters. The water is excellent in quality and abundant in quantity. The climate is pleasant, with the seasonal feature of earliness of spring, coolness of summer, brightness of autumn and warmth of winter. The river water will not be dry, cold in winter or rise in summer. The average temperature is over 18 degree Census, especially in winter, the temperature here is 4 degree Census higher than that of the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River with the same latitude. When the northern part of our country is snowing, it is still green and verdant at Tonggu Beach. According to the statistics, there are only 60 winter days at Tonggu Beach Drifting Area. It is obvious that the spring comes ahead of time. At the midmonth of February, the average temperature has been 10 degree Census, and in April, it reaches 18.6 degree Census. The spring is mild, with moderate rainfall, bright sunshine, brilliant purples and reds. The summer lasts for more than 4 months, form May to the end of September. Summer is the best time for drifting. The autumn is cool, also fit for drifting.

The Attractions of Tonggu Beach

Tongling Big Buddha

Tongling Big Buddha is also called the Saddle Nose Big Buddha, Sluttery Big Buddha and Long Beard Big Buddha. The bid Buddha is located at a cliff, on the left of Copper Buddha Gorge. The Buddha is more than 20 meters high, facing the southeast. Looking from a far place, the forehead, eyebrows, eyes and nose are all vivid, with strict composition and proper proportion. But the nose is concave, hence the name of Saddle Nose Big Buddha. The water makes the sect below the lower jaw long beard, hence the name of Long Beard Big Buddha. Some people also say that the black signs are not the beard, but the soup and food left from the mouth, hence the name of Sluttery Big Buddha.

Wall Peak

On the right bank of Chuanchang Beach, there is a peak with an altitude of 1000 meters, called wall peak. This peak is upright to the sky, extending as a wall, hence the name wall peak. Taking a look at the peak from a draft, you would feel it is beyond your reach. The two banks of Tonggu Beach are grey rocks of Cambrian system, with a high resistant to corrosion and air-slake, under the corrosion of the river water, it forms the river bed and valley, connecting with each other together. There are intermittent streams on the bank of the valley, during the seasons with great rainfall, the stream water would fly into the riverbed from the high peak, forming more than ten flying waterfalls with a height of 10 to 100 meters. On the left bank of Xiangshui Beach, there is a waterfall named pearl waterfall, at the height of more than 200 meters, 100 meters higher than that of the Huangguoshu Waterfalls. Especially at the period with abundant water, the scenery is so charming.
