Lu You Cave is located at the northern bank of the confluence of Xikou and Daning River. It is under one of the Wushan Mountain Twelve Peaks, Shenquan Peak. 2.5 kilometers away from Wushan County, there are two limestone caves, said to be formed in the 4th century (about 2500, 0000 years ago). The upper cave was called "Renhe Zai" and the lower one was named "Qingshui Cave". Later on, in the first year of Qiandao, the famous poet, Lu You, stayed in the cave overnight when he was traveling there and he recorded the experience in the Ru Shu Ji, so people called the cave Lu You Cave.Actually, the cave Lu You got to was only the Qingshui Cave, but now Lu You Cave includes the Qingshui Cave, Jinzhu Cave as well as Yulin Cave. If we regard the Qingshui Cave as the abdomen of LuYou Cave, then the Jinzhu Cave is the chest and Yulin Cave is the head.
Lu You Cave is more than 30 meters long, and it is hidden in the Konghou Mountain. When you stand at the entrance of the cave, what you see first is the Statue of Lu You, tall and big. At the mountain door, there is a couplet, read as follows: "Jin Long Dao Gua Tian Ti Ce, Xi Li u Zheng Wo Ming Yue Zhong", which makes a conclusion of the sights in the cave. At the entrance, you also may have a good perspective of Yangtze River. When you take a boat in the Wu Gorge, you can see the new-built mountain door as well. When you go into the cave, you will see a corridor of score of meters. On the left, you may see running water. The corridor varies from high to low, when travelers walk in the cave, sometimes they may swagger strut, sometimes they should bend down. At the end of the corridor, there is a small cave, the entrance of which upturns, so you must roll up yourselves to get into the cave. The road in the small cave is zigzag, and then you will get to a passage with jagged rocks of grotesque shapes. At last, you get to the Qingshui Cave, where Lu You spent one night. It was said that when Lu You visited the cave, he fetched water from the Xiling Mountain to cook tea and wrote a poem on the cliff, which attracted many tourists' writings. As for the long history and air-slake, many have been unidentifiable. Looking up at the top of the cave, you may see many stalactites hang upside down, with thousands of shapes, some like rhino exploiting the cave, some like Su Wu shepherd. There are also dainty and exquisite pillars. All these views make the cave a museum of stalactite statues. It looks like bamboo shoot, hall, palace, pavilion, goddess, general, dragon, tiger, jade and gold. Isn't it spectacular? On the right of Qingshui Cave, on the 50-meter-high cliff, there is the Jinzhu Cave, which used to be unreachable. But now, hanging ladders are built. The cliff is cut with holes, steel plates are inserted into the holes, and handrails are linked on the plates. There are 280 ladders in all, making it possible to get to the Jinzhu Cave. When you stand on the ladders, it seems as if you are going into the sky. Looking down, you may see 24 colored lanterns in the shape of leaves, the reflection of which is crystal clear. Jinzhu Cave is made up of a corridor with 10 meters long and 5 meters wide. In the cave, there is a cream white peristele at the height of 20 meters. Extending from the bottom to the top, enlaced with colored lanterns, looking like a golden pillar of the dragon palace. The Yulin Cave is also filled with stalactite, big and small, long and short, of all forms, making tourists loose their mind. Outside the cave, there are four pavilions, built with the themes of four seasons. Staying in the pavilion, looking down from a height of the surging Yangtze River and Wu Gorge, then how wonderful would you feel?
