Brief Introduction of Zhaojun Village

Zhaojun Village is the birthplace of Zhaojun, one of the four ancient beauties in In the Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-A.D. 24). It is said that Zhaojun is so beautiful that even the flowers, moon, fish and wild goose have a feeling of inferiority, of course, this is a comparison. It is well-known to us of Zhaojun's bidding farewell over the frontier. Nowadays, Zhaojun Village is very famous, and there are more than 20 scenic spots, such as: Fendai Forest, Jiali Island, Huansha Place and Colorful Rock Patch. The Wangjia cliff is with ceticious cloud, the Xiangxi River is full of twists and turns, the Godness Spring is classic and elegant, the Dressing Table is covered with petals, the Zhaojun Statue stands gracefully erect and the Qintai peak is filled with sensuos music. It is said that there are many beauties in Zhaojun Village, which attracts lots of geographers and tourists from home and abroad. Many tourists enjoy themselves there so much that they don't want to leave.

Legend of Zhaojun Village

Whenever the spring comes, there would be some peach fish in the Xiangxi River, which are said to be the incarnation of the tears of Zhaojun when she left the village. At one corner of the stream, there is a colorful beach, which is said to be the place of Zhaojun's Huansha. At the east of the village, there is a Nanmu well, the water of which is sweat and never dries out, and people say the well is where Zhaojun drawn water. At the west of the village, there is a stone dragon, laying in the mountain, assuming a manner of levity, vomiting cool water, and it is said that Zhaojun together with the villagers excavated there for 49 days, which moved the seiryuu of the east China sea, so the dragon flied there and transformed into a spring. The yard of the village is full of black bamboo, it is said that when Zhaojun was drawing, the seven colour immortals, red, orange, yellow, green, black, blue and purple all come to colour her painting. After Zhaojun left the village, the seven immortals went on going ot the village, and the purple immortal believed that Zhaojun would come back one day, so she waited in the bamboo forest all the time, and gradually her body was changed to bamboo leaves and poles, finally the black bamboo forest come into being. All the legend in the village show people's deep missing of Zhaojun.

Cultural Connotation of Zhaojun Village

Zhaojun Village has a profound cultural and historical connotation. The cultural relics of Han and Tang Dynasty kept in the Zhaojun museum are all unearthed in the Zhaojun Village. At the Zhaojun Academy, there are many different editions of classical books, all of which have a good record of appraisals and praises from men of letters to Zhaojun. The historical accounts of past events are broad and profound, making the museum the historical and cultural center of researching Zhaojun. The amount and savour of the scripts and paintings of the museum are superior over the other ones. One worth mention is the nomination of the name of the museum and village by Guo Moruo, which adds to the cultural deposits of the sightseeing district. Zhaojun has left the village for thousands of years, but the customs and ways of working of Han Dynasty have been remained. The marriage and funeral are primitive and simple, which is awarded as the one and only historical and cultural sight of Han Dynasty by the experts and scholars.
