Peiku-tso Lake is in the Nyalam County of Shigatse area of Tibet, 250 kilometers away from the Tingri County. Peiku-tso Lake is the biggest lake in the Shigatse area with an area of more than 300 square kilometers. Its height above the sea level is about 4,590 meters. Peiku-tso Lake is surrounded on three sides by mountains and is a bright turquoise all year round.

Natural Resources of Peiku-tso Lake

With open terrain, the Peiku-tso Lake is abundant with fish resources. On the lakeshore of Peiku-tso Lake, there are many Tibetan wild donkeys, wild horses, Tibetan antelopes, white cranes, yellow ducks as well as grey ducks moving around.

Attractions of Peiku-tso Lake

Peiku-tso Lake is a beautiful alpine lake located near Shishapangma, the 14th highest mountain in the world. This remote lake sees very few tourists, but is a great place to go if you would like to see some of the off-the-beaten-path areas of Tibet. The way to the Peiku-tso Lake is amazing with excellent views of Himalaya Mountains. There are also usually a lot of wildlife in the area of Peiku-tso Lake, including wild horses, wolves, foxes, deer, gazelle, black-necked cranes as well as yaks and sheep.

Compared with Namtso Lake, Mapam Yumtso Lake, Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, and Siling-tso Lake, Peiku-tso Lake may not be as famous as they four. But Peiku-tso Lake scenic area and the area surrounding it are truly some of the best areas in Tibet. With bright blue water, the snow-capped Himalaya Mountains and abundant wildlife, it is well worth being visited. Besides, you can appreciate the reflection of Shishapangma and the sound of waves of Yarlung Zangbo River which is about 40 kilometers north of the Peiku-tso Lake.
