Yangpachen Hot Springs is located in the Damxung Town 90 kilometers northwest of Lhasa. It covers an area of 7,000 square kilometers. The temperature of Yangpachen Hot Springs stays at about 47℃. Yangpachen Hot Spring is the first wet steam field of China and it is also the geothermal power plant with the highest elevation in the world.

Yangpachen Hot Springs lies on the plateau with the largest number of hot springs in China. Large-scaled geysers, thermal springs, hot springs, boiling springs and hot lakes can all be found in Yangpachen Hot Springs scenic area.

Springs with the highest temperature, rare explosive springs as well as peculiar geysers are also rich in Yangpachen Hot Springs scenic area. Its total area amounts to more than 7,000 square meters. There are high content of mineral substances here in the hot springs, thus is able to cure many diseases by soaking in the hot springs.

The steam fields in Yangpachen Hot Springs scenic area are located in the embrace of huge mountains-this perfect combination forms the most spectacular natural landscape on the roof of the world.

The bathing site is an outdoor swimming pool. Since the temperature in the hot springs is too high, the water needs cooling down in two outdoor ponds before being supplied to the visitors to bathe.

The most beautiful time in a day for the view of Yangpachen Hot Springs is the morning each day. In the morning, it is still quite cold outdoors. Therefore, the steam fields of Yangpachen are always pervaded with white mists and clouds of vapors rise from the surface of the lakes, forming a fairyland on earth.

Winter is the best season for enjoying the sight of whirling snow while taking baths in the hot springs. It is quite romantic.
