Diaolou Buildings in Fengsheng Town

With steep mountains and lush forests, Fengsheng Town has always been quite vital in military from the ancient times. Therefore, the local rich businessmen and landlords constructed many Diaolou buildings to protect Fengshent Town. Diaolou is a special residential building with a shape resembling a blockhouse. Diaolou buildings were very popular in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. So far, more than a dozen Diaolou buildings are still in good condition with people living in them. Each Diaolou building is with three to six storeys, with 80 to 150 square meters each floor. Small windows were equipped on the Diaolou buildings. Diaolou buildings are rarely seen in other ancient towns and worth a visit.
