Zhaji Temple is a small temple in Lhasa. Small as it is, it is quite popular among the local people as well as the visitors. It is said that the Zhaji Temple enshrined the God of Wealth and was very efficacious. In fact, this temple was not popular originally for its blessing people becoming wealthy. It is said that the temple was at first set up for the safeness of the foreigners among whom the majority are the businessmen. They always make a fortune after praying in the Zhaji Temple. Therefore, Zhaji Temple gradually became a temple of God of Wealth. It is the only temple of God of Wealth in Tibet.
There is a Zhaji Goddess enshrined in the Zhaji Temple. It is said that Zhaji Goddess came from the inland and was quite efficacious. Zhaji Goddess is a deity for protecting Dharma in the world. Deity for protecting Dharma is a deity who does not totally get rid of the mortal life and still need to build more positive qualities and to make more contributions to the mortal world. People believe that the popularity of Zhaji Temple is related to the piousness of the disciples to Zhaji Goddess.
Zhajia Lhamu is enshrined on the ground floor of Zhaji Temple. It is said that Zhaji Lhamu loves drinking very much. So the moment you enter into the Shrine for God of Wealth, you can find many boxes full of empty wine bottles since the wine has been sacrificed to Zhaji Lhamu. You can bring some wine on your own. Or you can also buy some in the temple as the oblation.
Coming out of the Shrine for God of Wealth, you can come to the second floor on which there are two halls. The two halls respectively enshrine the Vajra Master and Buddha statues.
The passage from the second floor to the third floor is quite tranquil with special charming. On the passage, you can enjoy the view of Lamas' chanting Buddhism scriptures. You can also climb to the third floor and have an overlook of Potala Palace and the northern suburbs of Lhasa.
