Mount Pipa Park is located on Mount Pipa in Yuzhong District of Chongqing, the central position of Chongqing city. It is on the elevation of 345 meters is the acme of the old Chongqing city. Beautiful Origin of Mount Pipa's Name

As for the origin of the name of Mount Pipa, there are altogether three versions. The first one is that there were once a lot of loquat trees growing on the mountain and in Chinese, "Pipa" means loquat trees, thus it was named Mount Pipa.

In Chinese, the word "Pipa" has another meaning that is a musical instrument-a stringed Chinese lute. So the second version goes that the appearance of the mountain looks like the Chinese musical instrument Pipa-a stringed Chinese lute.

The third version is that there was once a lady living on the mountain who was good at playing Pipa. Each night, she would play Pipa to call for her lover in the Nan'an area. The music she played was quite beautiful and charming, thus the mountain was called Mount Pipa.

Attractions of Mount Pipa Park

Sceneries in the Mount Pipa Park are quite attracting with winding mountain roads and shady bamboo trees, luxurious flowers and grasses and fresh air, becoming an oasis in the city. Due to its height, it becomes one of the best places for watching the night piece of the mountain city. Mount Pipa Park is also called the "Lung Lobe" of Yuzhong District and the "Oxygen Supply Center" of Chongqing. The main attractions of Mount Pipa Park include Hongxing Pavilion, Fuyuan Garden, Ziwei Garden and Yingcui Corridor.

Hongxing Pavilion

Hongxing (red star) Pavilion stands on the top of Mount Pipa-the acme of the Mount Pipa Park. It was began to be built in 1955 and is a octagonal pavilion with two stories, occupying an area of 130 square meters. Standing in the pavilion, you can have a bird's view of the whole Yuzhong Byland.

Fuyuan Garden

Fuyuan Garden lies on the middle part of the Mount Pipa with an area of more than 2,000 square meters. There are long corridors, Shan Pavilion, pools, a statue of a lady playing Pipa (stringed Chinese lute) and so on. Multiple plants species can be found in the Fuyuan Garden. Tranquil and peaceful, it is a perfect place for relaxing.
