Bijin Park is located in the middle part of Yubei District of Chongqing and is about 4 kilometers off the Jiangbei International Airport. It was originally built in 1986 with an area of more than 20 hectares. There are rolling rugged hills, lush trees, pavilions with unique-shaped cornice and ponds with dark green, making the park a typical Chinese-styled park. As a park for resting and cultures and a pearl embedded in the Yubei District, Bjin Park was adopted in the list of national AAAA parks.
In the past, thr Bijin Park was surrounded by a three meters high fence which has been destroyed now. So the visitors can appreciate the beautiful sceneries inside the park even if they are out the park. And they can choose at random a path leading to the beautiful park.
The past concrete roadways have been repaved with granite stone, bluestone, tiger skin stone and rain flower pebbles. The new paths and roads cover an area of 50,000 square meters.
As to the improvement of the buildings, the Nanmen (Southern Gate), Kwan-yin Temple, the museum, Wedding Hall and Penglai Pavilion etc. have been improved and present a new look.
Besides, the artworks in the park have also been remoulded and some new ground carvings and wall carvings have been added to the park.
In the aspect of lake management, the mud on the bottom of the lake have been dug and cleaned away. Water quality in the lake has been improved. The once broken lake bank has been repaired. What's more, ecological floating beds are set in the lake. On the ecological floating beds, some aquatic plants such as the cannas are planted, forming an unique picturesque scenery in Bijin Park. With these plants on the ecological beds, the air on the lake becomes fresher and the water becomes clearer. The improvements of the lake's environment have drawn lots of water birds such as the white cranes, egrets and so on, bringing another natural and beautiful view to Bijin Park.
What is more interesting is that a children garden is built in the park. The Bijin Park is no longer a onefold park for strolling. It has also become a paradise for the children.
