Chaotianmen Square

Chaotianmen Square is now a leisure residential square. It covers an area of 80,000 square meters. It is composed of four major parts namely the Sightseeing Square, the protection shore ladder road, the traffic square and the peripheral surroundings. It is a symbolic construction with the connected functions of waterway as well as the land transportation. In early summer or middle autumn of each year, on the Chaotianmen Square, you can see the magnificent view of the Green Jialing River flowing into the yellow turbulent rapids of the Yangtze River. The whirlpools rolls and roars with the former clear water joining the turbid water, forming a spectacular view.

Chaotainmen Pier

A visit to Chaotianmen Pier gives a glimpse of the how the life of this modern industrial city mixes with its past. All Yangtze Cruises start and end at Chaotianmen Pier. For a view of the piers and city, take the cable car across the river from Cangbei Road or Wanglong Gate. Here you can watch the boats and get a real sense of modern life. During the summer locals swim in Jialing River or Yangtze River. In winter, when the low water exposes wide mudflats, the only way to get to the ships is to go there on the shoulders of laborers, which gives you a sense of the past life.

Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge

Chaotianmen Yang Ruver Bridge is built as the river gateway of Chongqing. Its main span is about 552 meters, which is longer than the famous arch bridge-Sydney Bridge in Australia, thus becoming the "No.1 Arch Bridge in the World". It is supported by two main bridge piers which are in the design of the Liberation Monument. In the daytime, the bridge except for the piers is in bright red color. In the evening, countless lights on the bridge are lighted together and then are mirrored on the surface of the river, which form a bright arch both in the sky and in the water. It is very beautiful.

Chaotianmen Wholesale Market

Chaotianmen Wholesale Market is the biggest wholesale market on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It is also one of the "Ten National Professional Wholesale Markets". It sells mainly the daily necessities and commodities.
