Jinfo Mountain lies in Nanchuan District of Chongqing Municipality with an area of 41850 hectares. It is famous for its natural statues. Traveling to Jinfo Mountain, you can climb it from the south slope, north slope, and west slope. So far, the scenic spots which have been developed are Shiren (stone man) Peak, Nantian Gate (southern heavenly gate) and Tong-zi-bai-guan-yin (Boy worshiped Kwan-yin), Muzi (mother and son) Peaks, Yingzui Stone (a stone shaped like the beak of an eagle) and Jinfo Temple.
Shiren Peak is a peak shaped like a "stone man with a horse-face". It is about 30 meters high. Looking at it afar, the Shiren Peak seems like a huge modern statue. Its neck is very long and looking from its side, it is like a grazing horse because under its mouth is the shrub which seems like grasses. And all its face, neck, horsehair and eyes can be seen clearly. There is an old Chinese poet goes, "Different views are exhibited from different directions and heights". And Shiren Peak could give you this wonderful feeling.
Nantian Gate is located on a huge towering stone of Jinfo Mountain. Compared with the common gates, Nantian Gate is a rectangular one with a height of over ten meters and a width of seven or eight meters. With a high altitude, you can see the clouds around you and it seems like you have entered the heaven while standing at Nantian Gate. Inside the gate stand seven or eight isolated peaks like the heavenly generals. The physiognomy of Nantian Gate is the typical karst topography. With clouds and mists around, it seems to be a fairyland.
Tong-zi-bai-guan-yin is a group of two stones shaped like a boy is worshiping the Guanyin Bodhisattva. The Guanyin Bodhisattva is tall and vivid. And in front of it is a standing stone leaning forward and saluting to the Guanyin Bodhisattva. The view is very interesting.
Muzi Peak is located at the south gate of Jinfo Mountain scenic area. It is composed of two peaks of different heights. The taller one is about 30 meters high. The upper part of the taller is small while the lower part is big, just like a woman dressed in a skirt. On the top of the taller peak grows a small tree like an open umbrella. Behind the taller one is a round peak with a height of about 20 meters. The two peaks look like the mother and son are walking on the road.
Behind the Muzi Peaks stands the Yingzui Stone which is several hundred high. The upper part of the huge stone juts out and forms the head and neck of the eagle. There is a hooked beak on the head. The hooked beak and the alert eyes add radiance and beauty to each other. The lower stones lies respectively on the right and left, just like the two wings of the eagle.
Jinfo Temple is the head of the four temples in Jinfo Mountain. Jinfo means a golden buddha. It is named Jinfo Temple because there is a golden buddha in it. The base and surroundings of its relic reflects its grand scale in the past.
