Goose Neck Park

Goose Neck Park is well located, with the Yangtze to its south, the Jialing to its north, and the Fotu Pass to its west. Originally a private garden of a Li family, it became a park in 1958, as suggested by premier Zhou En Lai.

The Goose Neck park is well known for its artistic pavilions, towers and terraced buildings of the traditional Chinese style, modeling after gardens of Suzhou and Hangzhou. It has many beautiful flowers and rare plants, and there is a stone table with Chinese characters E Ling (Goose Neck) inscribed by Chen Xiaoqu, a famous calligrapherr of the late Qing Dynasty. Some terraced pavilions have been built for taking a view of the city. The most famous one is Liangjiang (two rivers) Pavilion.

There are also many cultural and historical relics, including Eling (Goose Neck) Tablet, Ronghu Rope Bridge, Hutai (Tiger Terrace), Feige (Flying Pavilion), Tongxuan (Hall of Tong), Ancient Ba Rock Carvings of Fotu Pass and Penjing Yuan (Garden of Potted Landscape).

Feige (Flying Pavilion), built at the northern part of Goose Neck Park, is located at the hillside overlooking Jialing River. It is a villa combining Chinese and Western styles that was built in 1939. Jiang Jieshi and his wife, Song Meiling, used to live here for over two month. In 1940, British Ambassador Mr. Carl lived in this villa till 1945.
