Bayu Folk Culture Village is located on the east side of Shuanglong Avenue, South Development Area, Yubei District and is two kilometers away from the Chongqing International Airport. To its north is the Bijin Park and to its south is the Shuanglong Lake. The main scenic spots are "four courtyards", "one temple", "one paifang (memorial arch)" and "one museum". Besides, there are also rope bridges, square, lake, cottage, tea garden, and streets with folk customs.
Bayu Folk Culture Museum displays over 1,000 Chinese folk handicrafts, clothes and other daily use articles, mainly including 250 woodcarving items with local characteristic, such as shrine, tablet, wood bed with carved patterns, table, chair and so on. The most attractive one of them is the Woodcarving Queen Bed with Six Posts and Five Eaves, which is called "No.1 Bed of China". Rich contents and exquisite carvings of it presents folk life style of Ba people.
Four Courtyards means 4 different courtyards of residential houses with different style. They presents respectively the "Life Rites" of ancient Ba people, such as Birth, Wedding and Death. And some farming tools and manufacturing process are also displayed in the courtyards.
Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) Temple presents the sacrifice rituals and religious belief. Besides, there are drawbridge, square, lake, farmhouse, and teahouse in Bayu Folk Culture Village.
Paifang is a memorial arch for married women's chastity and filial piety. The paifang in Bayu Folk Culture Village is started to build in Guang-Xu the 21st year (1895) and was completed in Guang-Xu the 30th year (1904) with a height of 13.4 meters and a width of 8.8 meters. It was made of stones and was of wood-simulating style, with four pillars, three rooms, and Xie-shan-san-chong-yan (three pavilion-roofs stacked together) and exquisite designs and patterns on it.
The village is a perfect place for people to enjoy countryside life out of busy city and crowd.
